Act 529 Update ::  October 1, 2015

Recently, the Arkansas State Medical Board voted to adopt Regulation 24 which allows for physician assistants to prescribe hydrocodone containing products.  This regulation will still have to go through the legislative process, but will soon be adopted.  The ASMB will be sending every credentialed provider a letter for the Supervising Physician and provider to sign and have notarized.  The PA will also need to have 5 hours of pain management CME prior to application for prescriptive privilege.  When this letter is received by medical board, it will then be stamped and sent back to applicant to send on to the DEA.  More information concerning this process and the timeline will be updated as information is available.
